Does Hp envy 14 (2021) support usb c charging ?
Main Post:
I know this question has already been asked for HP envy 15 (2020). however I found a review stating that is model can be charged via usb c (slow charge), which got me confused:
The good news is that if you're willing to charge it slowly, you can still use the USB Type-C port.

Has anybody tried charging the HP envy 14 (2021) over usb c 100w charger ? I don't mind if it charges at a slower pace than the barrel pin.
Top Comment: Haven’t tried it on mine, but I believe it supports USB C charging through the left hand port yes. I’ll stick with my barrel charger though as it’ll give the best performance when plugged in, if you need to run the display, CPU and GPU at full tilt. Also, just out of interest, what region are you in? I’m in the UK and my Envy 14 was shipped directly from China, and the Intel and Nvidia stickers were placed a bit closer on mine, and I don’t have either of those large obnoxious HP stickers. Meant that I didn’t have to pull them off and then get the residue off too which was good.
Can we all agree HP tech support is worthless?
Main Post:
Created a support case regarding one of our HP laptops not detecting the laptop battery. Provided the symptoms (laptop shuts off everytime power source is unplugged), battery icon has an "X", hovering over battery icon says "battery not detected", and Win10 power troubleshooter did nothing and they STILL want me to run the UEFI diagnostics as if that fixes anything. The diagnostic is gonna do jack all and reveal the same thing I've been telling them.
I thought maybe a battery driver fucked up but that wouldn't prevent the system from performing a cold boot (booting from a powered off state). The only logical thing would be the mainboard or battery.
God i hate dealing with anything HP related. At least Lenovo had some competent tech support. Not even sure why we switched. It's causing everyone headaches from hardware issues to software compatibility and a whole mess.
Top Comment: I deal with them all the time. When they suggest fixes I pretend to do them and say it didn’t work. Eventually they give up and process the warranty.
How is HP's customer support?
Main Post:
Hello everyone!
I am curious how HP's reputation in customer service is.
I am planning to buy a laptop in Canada.
I would appreciate it if you can share your knowledge and experience.
Top Comment: hp customer service kinda sucky. Once you ordered the computer you cannot cancel yourself unless you call them and they have to approve it. And the price protection you can only apply once and thats it. No more changes after that. They also take restocking fee if you want to return. Takes forever to ship to you. Unless you can find really cheap price on hp i recommend shopping on other sites like bestbuy and price match it.
how can I contact hp support?
Main Post:
Hi,
I tried using their website, but it does not recognize my serial number and I haven't been able to find a phone number or email anywhere. How do you contact these people? Do they even exist?
Thanks!
Top Comment: I figured it out. The number I used is 1-800-474-6836, just have to press 0 a bunch to get a person ;)
HP support?
Main Post:
I know that all customer support is bad... But has anyone had any success with HP support...
Had a DOA laptop comeback from RMA with physical damages... I sent it back and they basically cancelled the RMA 2 weeks back. I never got any notifications or anything.
Then another printer broke out of the box. I went through the song and dance for the online tech support. I checked today because they told me that they'd send me a replacement and then come to find out. It was cancelled. Again not a single notification... Not even an email. Then they're trying to say they need a collateral credit card number. I bought it. It was broken, why can I be trusted with a 1500$ laptop but not a 500$ broken printer?
I'm at about 6 hours just dealing with RMAs for their broken shit. Not a single tech knows what is going on, they keep putting me on hold to talk to a supervisor or figure out what to do.
Tl;Dr: Are all manufacturers this bad or is there a brand I can rely on.
Top Comment: Our team has never had an issue like that, but I'd recommend following up with your distributor and have them yell at HP for/with you.
So I knew HP support was bad but not this bad...

Got a Z6 for video production. Machine is dead out of the box. We have onsite repair so I'm not mucking with it. This is Jan. So we have to wait a month with parts on backorder before we can get a tech assigned. He replaces motherboard and power supply. Still won't start. I ask for rma exchange. HP wants to send abother tech with new parts but it'll be a month for the parts. I say no let's RMA. We finally get the cause authorized.
It's now just past the ides of April and we are still waiting. Our new unit is still in process. Will be notified when it ships. There's nobody to appeal this to. Their support system is a janky mess. Had to talk to ten departments to get an answer on anything.
Crazy thing is parent company has a corporate account and dedicated rep and we buy enough equipment we should be paid attention to. Nope. Best our rep can do is give us the same person who is monitoring the case.
I know it I ordered one of these new I could get it in a week. I can only guess they have production problems and fill new orders first since RMA they already have our money.

You could have avoided all the headaches by just returning it if it was dead on arrival. But yeah I agree overall just fuck everything HP. I avoid them like the plague. Printers, computers, peripherals. It’s all shit with shit support.
Why is HP’s tech support so awful? Is there an option to pay to be able to speak to someone competent who will actually listen to your issue and not follow pre written troubleshooting scripts?
Main Post:
HP’s tech support is among the worst I’ve ever experienced
The issue is I updated my Z2 Mini G9 system bios, and within the system bios was an updated thunderbolt controller firmware
The updated thunderbolt controller firmware is causing problems with my devices, so I need to revert to the older one that worked
Unfortunately the older thunderbolt firmware is NOT packaged with the previous system BIOS releases
I’ve explained that to their support at least 100 times now, and I get responses from them that suggest they either don’t understand what I’m saying or they’re just not even bothering to read my emails or look at my screen shots
The only other thing I can think of doing is ordering another thunderbolt module and hope it ships with the older firmware
Unfortunately the module is backordered, and it looks like it won’t arrive for several weeks
I’ve already been down for ~2 weeks and I am running out of patience here
What else can I do? Is there an option to pay for a higher level of support, on a per issue basis?
Update: I complained on Twitter and HP said they are going to escalate the case
Top Comment: Same here lol I once called them, and even got called back by a higher person, because I lost features in the customizable key. They told me well that's an update, those features are gone. Nothing to do. Then I found out I could fix it with additional software from their own site. Which apparently they didn't know. Super bad.
HP won't let you talk to customer service unless you have a warranty
Main Post:
This is just horrible service. Just because my printer is a few years old, they won't let me talk to customer service when it breaks randomly, it has to be under warranty even though I'm not requesting a replacement, I just want someone to help! Never buying another HP
Top Comment: This, for printers stay away from inkjets, especially hp inkjets. Get a Brother laser and be done.
Advice for HP support
Main Post:
Hi, a few months ago my friend got a new HP laptop. Specifically, the HP spectre. Even on arrival, the thing, despite seemingly having very solid specs, has been a piece of shit. Extremely unstable and slow for no reason.
Now they've been in contact with HP support throughout this and, despite having the warranty, appear to be at the "getting ghosted" phase of support. They've tried various techniques to fix it, which have done fuck all, and now they're just not responding to emails.
How does one actually get anywhere in terms of replacement or actual progress when the simple repairs process appears to have failed? Support appears to be hiding from them at this point. Any advice to light a fire under their asses, preferably without a full blown lawsuit?
Top Comment: The HP Spectre should have an m.2 ssd as the main Bootable storage.. if yours is one of the 'upgraded' models with a standard ssd as well, make sure you use the m.2 as your windows os storage, this will ensure faster boot times.. When you say it's slow, do you mean "I need this youtube video to load faster" slow, or do you mean- I just brewed my 3rd pot of coffee and it's still on the windows logo - slow.. Windows 11, if logged into a Microsoft account in the beginning of windows setup- defaults to REQUIRING a stable internet connection to load everything properly.. if your internet is slow, your computer is slow.. I never log my windows machines into a Microsoft account, if at all possible.. try dumping the machine, reinstalling and bypassing the Microsoft logins - there are various ways to do this with a quick Google search.
How's the HP service and customer support
Main Post:
I am first time ASUS ROG user and it has been nightmare since 3 months after purchase. Even today after a year of purchase I still have to deal with alot of their BS. Planning on selling my ROG device and buy either a legion or Hp omen. Found some decent deals here in the US. Wanted to know about their customer service before pulling the trigger. I know it's difficult to say exactly but is it quiet common to have extreme BS with HP? Intolerable experiences with them?
Top Comment: They are absolutely fucking horrendous. Terrible experience. Sent my Omen in for repairs under warranty period and right after it expired the following year the same issues occurred. Now my support tier is lower and I’m essentially blocked by the support gatekeepers when trying to diagnose the continued issue with them. They are total fucks and a class action should be opened for how many people experience the same issues with the Omen.
